This course introduces the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. Children listen to stories based on each sound pattern, participate in role play activities, share phonics games, learn alphabet songs, and have fun completing task sheets which challenge their pre-reading and writing skills. |

This course is for children who can recognise all single letters and their sounds. They learn how to listen to and identify sounds at the beginning, middle and end of words as well as long and short vowels. Phonic blends are introduced as reading and spelling skills are developed.

This course ssumes a good understanding of phonics and introduces the different spelling patterns that make up long vowels in English, how to pronounce and spell irregular sound patterns and identify these in more complicated words. This is an excellent continuation course in phonics or a refresher course to improve general spelling, pronunciation, reading and writing skills.
