Health and Safety at Star Learning Centre

In view of outbreaks of human infection of Swine Influenza H1N1, the Serious Response Level under the Government's Preparedness Plan for Influenza Pandemic was activated on 26 April 2009. The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health alerted the public that Human Swine Influenza may have the chance to be spread in Hong Kong.

In preparation for the prevention of such communicable disease, we are ensuring the following:

  1. All equipment and materials are daily and thoroughly cleaned with disinfectant
  2. All toilets are checked hourly by Metropolis Mall management for cleanliness and the removal of paper waste
  3. Any staff who show symptoms of colds or other illnesses are asked to take sick leave until they are completely well again
  4. Child and adult masks and alcohol spray are available in all studios

It is incumbent upon all of us to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. To safeguard students' health, parents are urged to maintain a hygienic household, and co-operate with us by reminding students to observe personal hygiene and keep schools hygienic. In this connection, you are kindly requested to take the following measures:

  1. Do not send children to class if they have a fever. (For the normal body temperature range, please refer to CHP's guidelines (http://www.chp.gov.hk/) pertaining to the means for measuring body temperature)
  2. Inform us immediately if children are sick or have been admitted to hospital for surveillance
  3. Keep sick children at home until symptoms have improved and fever has subsided then, take rest for at least two more days before returning to class
  4. Co-operate with schools by picking up children feeling unwell from school and consult your doctor immediately

We ask that if your child shows signs of sickness, such as serious coughing, sneezing, fever, or a runny nose, you act considerately to the other children in the class and remove your child from class or do not bring them to class until they are better. Make-up classes can be arranged.

We would like to appeal to parents for collaboration in order to maintain a clean and healthy living environment. Please also remind your children to pay attention to personal hygiene and to take preventive measures for communicable diseases.
